Driver Trainer

Driver Trainer- Greater Sudbury

Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interviewing, driver evaluations on Simulator, followed by Road Testing potential new hire candidates. Training new and existing drivers on safe and efficient operation of various vehicles, including commercial trucks and heavy equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our drivers meet safety standards, comply with regulations, and develop the skills necessary for successful performance. The Driver Trainer will also oversee the proper use of forklifts, freight handling, and other operational equipment to maintain safety and productivity across our operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for new drivers on vehicle operation, safety protocols, and company policies
  • Provide ongoing coaching and skill development for existing drivers to enhance their driving techniques and safety awareness
  • Evaluate driver performance through practical assessments and provide constructive feedback
  • Ensure all drivers adhere to federal, provincial, and company safety regulations during training and daily operations
  • Maintain detailed records of training activities, driver progress, and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with management to develop training programs tailored to operational needs
  • Stay updated on industry regulations related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in commercial driving.
  • Prior experience in driver training or instructional roles is preferred
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (AZ) with clean driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of trainees
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and compliance documentation
  • Commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement in driver performance
